Wooden Flowers

We are based in Dubuque, IA. We make bride bouquets, bridesmaid bouquets, boutineers, corsages, and special occasion arrangements. We specialize in making our arrangements with sola wood flowers.

What are sola wood flowers?

Sola wood comes from a tapioca plant root. It is a tropical species of the Euphorbiaceae (spurge) family. The tapioca plant is known by many names: cassava, manioc, arrowroot, and sometimes yuca (don't get that confused with the yucca succulent plant). Many times the bark is taken off to expose the cream, cork like center of the plant. That center is then made into thin sheets which are taken and are used to create the sola wood flowers by hand. Sometimes the bark is left on while creating the sheets to form the flowers and are typically referred to as bark or skin flowers and create a two tone effect. Each individual sola flower is carefully made into a lifelike flower. The natural color is ivory.
