It is almost springtime in Iowa which means we are gearing up for spring engagement photos. We are excited to get into warmer weather and some fun pretty backdrops for your engagement photos! This is one of the busiest times for wedding photographers and we absolutely love it! Here are some of our favorite ideas for your spring engagement photos from poses to backdrops to props. We have experience with it all!
#1 Flowers
Springtime brings some of the prettiest flowers to the Iowa area, and we love capturing our couples in front them or surrounded by them. We have some if the most gorgeous flower areas in Dubuque, IA. One of those areas is the Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. This area is absolutely stunning and makes an amazing backdrop for springtime engagement photos.
#2 Umbrella
As the saying goes, “April showers bring May Flowers”, which can make for some fun and unique photos. Using a cute umbrella for your springtime engagement photos can make for a great prop! Whether it is raining or not we can use an umbrella for your engagement photos. It can be used for a cute kiss underneath, strolling through a park holding hands, or hiding a sentimental moment between the couple.
#3 Greenery
Lush and bright green backgrounds are great for a pop of color in your engagement photos. You will want to wear a contrasting color, so you don’t blend in with the background for this photo. This can by ivy draped down a brick wall or just green rolling hills in the background of the shot to make it picture perfect.
#4 Golden Hour
The springtime golden hour just hits differently in photos during this time. It will add a beautiful golden glow to your engagement photos and can even add in a beautiful backdrop to your photos.
#5 Use Layers
It can still be a bit chilly in the early springtime, so we encourage you to utilize your layers for your engagement photos. This can be a cute jean jacket or a long-sleeved dress with tights. It can be a vest or flannel shirt. This allows you easy flexibility to change up your outfits, but have it be a different vibes for each photo.
